"Horsemanning, or fake beheading, was a popular way to pose in a photograph in the 1920’s. Sometimes spelled horsemaning, the horsemanning photo fad derives its name from the Headless Horseman, a character from “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

Erykah Badu for Givenchy is everything.

Riccardo Tisci is giving us many sides of Badu- from long straight hair, to a bushy fro, to head wraps. This SS14 “Cultural Crash” campaign is tantalizing and dynamic, and for Tisci who has been noted saying that Erykah Badu is one of the most stylish women he’s ever met, probably a dream come true.

I love how there is, subtly, much entangled in these lucid b&w shots of Badu who is fronting the campaign- All of the campaigns female models are women of color- Maria Borges, Riley, & Asia Chow.
